  • Craft beers are on tap at Doyle’s Pub and Taproom in Folsom
  • By: Laura Newell, Of the Telegraph

For those looking for a casual and comfortable pub to grab a pint, Doyle’s Pub and Taproom has a lot to offer.

Longtime companions, Patrick Doyle, 34, and Melanie Ottersen, 35, of Fair Oaks, recently opened Doyle’s at 312 E. Bidwell St. in Folsom.

“Currently, we offer 18 craft and local beers and ciders on tap, as well as a nice bottle selection that includes sours, beers from local breweries, ciders, Belgian style ales and other imported beers,” Doyle said. “All 18 drafts are rotating, which means that as soon as we sell out of a beer, something new and different takes its place. We plan to add more drafts in the future which will offer our guests an even larger selection to choose from.”

Doyle’s is open from 3-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.

“We plan on expanding our hours to include brunch on weekends, and eventually lunch hours during the weekdays,” he said.

When deciding where to open the pub and taproom, Doyle said Folsom was on the top of his list.

“Folsom is a well-established, tight community. We love being here,” he said. “Although food and pub options are competitive in the Folsom area, we felt that Doyle’s Pub and Taproom would offer an alternative option to its residents. We are centrally located, have a great draft list, full bar, awesome food and are kid friendly.”

Doyle’s also offers a specialty happy hour menu from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday which includes $1 off all drafts, $2 off all appetizers, $4 well drinks and cocktail specials.

If you are hungry for a bite, he said the Twin Cities Burger is considered their signature menu item.

“The Twin Cities Burger is our take on a Minneapolis legend, the Juicy Lucy,” he said. “We start with two one-third pound hamburger patties and stuff cheddar cheese between them. We then marry the patties together to make one large burger that is soon to erupt a lava flow of cheddar cheese from its insides. After being topped with more cheese and a healthy slice of bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle and an artisan bun smothered in Thousand Island, we believe that the Twin Cities burger is one of the best in the area.”

Doyle said he will only serve fresh ingredients to his customers.

“At Doyle’s, we believe in the importance of delivering a fresh and quality product,” he said. “There will never be any frozen meat, our breads are sourced from a local bakery and our chips, salsa, pico de gallo, salad mixes and many sauces and dressings are made from scratch in our own kitchen. We are small enough that both owners still regularly pick the produce by hand, and you can taste that difference in our food.”

The pub offers a variety of seats at the bar, private booths and several tables that can accommodate larger groups of people.

“The atmosphere at Doyle’s is casual and comfortable,” he said. “Wood accents and furniture warm things up to contribute to an overall relaxed pub feel that is perfect for date night, after work beers and cocktails, casual family meals and larger get-togethers. … Our draft list is balanced and unique, the food is fresh and pleasing, the atmosphere is comfortable and clean, but our real gem is our staff and the level of service and knowledge that they are consistently able to deliver to our guests.”
